It's super easy to bring one into your life!

Hey... It's not nearly as complicated as it looks. If you're the type who likes to read all the details of everything you could ever want to know, please have fun with this page. If not, don't be overwhelmed by all the text. All you really need to do is click the PayPal button in the description, or write me and tell me who you're interested in, and I'll take it from there!)

What do I do first?

  1. Does your bear have a sign that says "On Hold" next to his name? If so, write and let me know that you'd like to be put on the wait list for him. "On Hold" means that someone else wants the bear and has told me that payment is coming, but either I've not received it yet, their check has been received but not yet cleared, or they're paying for the bear on layaway. Until payment is received, their check is cleared, or payment is received in full, the bear is considered "on hold" - not yet truly sold. Sometimes the person never actually sends the payment, their check bounces, or they never finish paying the layaway off, in which case the bear could indeed be yours if I know you want him.

  2. If there is no "On Hold" sign, click the PayPal button to buy using PayPal. If you want to use a check or money order, e-mail me at samantha@purplevalleybears.com. Tell me the bear's name that you would like to adopt. I will e-mail you back and tell you where to send your payment etc and further information if necessary. Please do read the various sections below—they cover most of the bases!

  3. Reply to my next e-mail with your full name and shipping address.

That's it! Once payment is received in full (see the "Payment options" and "The fine print" sections below), your bear will be on its way to you!

Layaway plans

Yes, I sure do offer layaway plans on some (usually most!) bears. I realize that some artist bears are pricey, and I want you to be able to have a bear you love—even if you can't afford him all at once. Here's how it works:

Payment options

1) PayPal. This is my preferred method of receiving payment. If you use your credit card (or checking account) via PayPal to pay for your bear, I will ship within two business days of receiving the notification (for final payment) from PayPal. (Note, please, that this is the only accepted method of payment for bears adopted by people living outside of the US.)

2) Money Order. Money orders are also accepted for sales within the US. As with the above, orders paid for by postal money order are shipped within two business days of receiving the money order.

3) Check. Checks are cheerfully accepted (sales within the US), but unfortunately they must be held for 7-10 business days to be sure they have cleared. After that time, your critter will be sent out. (Please note that if your check bounces, you are legally responsible for any bank fees that I incur.)

International sales

International sales are welcome! Your shipping fees will be higher than sales within the US, but I can ship anywhere. Please be sure to e-mail me before completing your PayPal payment, as I need to let you know how much your shipping will be to your address. (It will be higher than what's shown next to the bear and what's shown on the PayPal screen.) There is a link to a currency converter in the description section for each bear so you can see how much he is in your currency. The bear's final price will be based on the exchange rate on the day you tell me you want the bear. In other words, I'll work out the currency conversion when you tell me you want him. That will be the set-in-stone price, even if you put him on layaway and don't finish paying for him for a month. This can work to your advantage if the exchange rate changes in my favor. Please note that the only method of payment I accept for international orders is PayPal.
